ABOUT

made in under 48 hours for Geta Game Jam 8

'drink' is a short visual novel about crimes, acceptance, and redemption.

A quick experience, this game lacks gameplay, but seemingly provides enough audio and visuals to make up for the deficit.

GGJ8 is a 72 hour game jam, but I was late and allotted myself 48 hours.

for Geta Game Jam 8 [ dreams & nightmares ]

by chiyeon

EXPLANATION [SPOILERS]:

Each 'realm' in the game after the first one is meant to symbolize a stage in the process of acceptance. The first desert stage represents denial (the 'square people' who are obviously rectangles and the King are all in obvious denial), the next red stage anger (where innocents are murdered for no reason), and so on until the last and final stage of acceptance.

The game is the nightmares/dreams experienced by a comatose drunk driver, who 'accidentally' kills an entire family in a car crash, only to fall into a 2 year coma. During the coma, the once normal person is stuck in an inner turmoil, unable to accept what they've done. They finally at the end of the game accept their actions, and prepare to face the consequences.

The concept is fine, but it honestly lacks work. I like walking simulators, but this one is more empty than others, and certain moments are so forced that they don't feel authentic. Still, there are good intentions and I like that.

Great input! Thanks for playing.

This game was awesome! Go check out my video counting down the top 5 submissions, I think you might be in the video xD.

Hey, great video!

And thanks for playing !

Sure! This game was a ton of fun to play, I hope to see you in other game jams :D

Such a great game with an interesting story! I really liked this and the art style was so beautiful. The little character was adorable and I liked the music, it really created a great atmosphere. The different areas were all so different and interesting, keep up the good work :D

I don't know if you've heard of Game Development World Championship before (gdwc2019) but it's a competition for indie game developers where they can submit their games and it's free! It's great if you want some more visibility for the game and it only takes a couple of minutes to join :)

Hey, thanks for playing and thanks for your kind words :D

I just checked it out and it looks pretty sweet, definitely thinking about submitting it, thanks again!

That's great! :D

Great aesthetics! The only thing that bothers me is that the player character moves a bit too slow for my liking.

Other than that, great work considering the short span to develop the game!

Yea, i definitely should have sped the player up.

thanks for playing!
